Director of Public Health and Leisure

circa £135,000

Brent is brimming with ambition and opportunity, and we celebrate our status as one of the most diverse, multicultural boroughs places in the UK, with a young and fast-growing population that brings energy and creativity.

Our public health team is known for its collaborative approach. We work across the council, from transport and housing to sport and adult social care, and with key partners including the NHS and community organisations. Tackling health inequalities and promoting health and wellbeing underpins everything we do. Brent Health Matters, our flagship community led programme, is codesigned with residents and recognised for its pioneering, partnership-based approach. Through it, we support community champions to reach into every part of our borough.

There is strong commitment across our system to maximise the impact of public health, and we are seeking a dynamic leader to build on this momentum. As Director of Public Health and Leisure, you will provide expert professional advice across public health, leisure and wellbeing to officers, members, the Health and Wellbeing Board, and partners across the system.

You will need to meet the statutory requirements for this senior role, but above all we are looking for a systems leader – someone who can drive meaningful, lasting change and make a real difference in tackling Brent’s health inequalities and developing our exciting leisure and wellbeing offer.
