Director of Housing
circa £130,000
Merton is a borough going places, driven by an ambitious political and officer leadership team armed with a brand-new blueprint to build a better Merton for all.
The Borough is served by the best transport network in south London. It has beautiful green spaces, great schools, good family homes, and some fantastic urban centres, as well as a strong sense of community and identity.
The Council are determined to build on these opportunities to unlock the untapped potential in Merton that has been, for too long, overlooked. These three new Director posts sit at the very heart of this change – it couldn’t be a more exciting time to join Merton.
As Director of Housing you will be at the helm of Merton’s new housing service as the council takes on the direct running of council housing for the first time in 16 years. This is a high-profile role for the borough, overseeing the transition to a stock-holding position. Equally important, you will tackle Merton’s rising temporary accommodation pressures and strengthen homelessness prevention by managing demand compassionately and robustly.
